    Rooster?

Thank you everyone. I was pretty sure it was a roo but his behavior was confusing me. The other roo -the EE in 3rd picture, amazing you could tell Sourland!- mounts the girls, is loud and walks around all cocky. This one is just awful skittish and calm.

    Rooster?

About 4 months old. Looks like a rooster but doesn't act like the other rooster we have. This one acts like one of the girls. Not sure about breed. Thank you!

    flaky skin around new feathers

So its been few months and her skin hasn't improved, it actually seems worse now and she stopped laying again. I soaked her in epson salt bath today and took some new pictures. She also had this explosive diarrhea like poop which really looked like grass clippings mixed with water. This...

    flaky skin around new feathers

My 7 month old puller went throughout what I thought was light molt. She has new feathers growing in on the area under the vent where all the fluffy feathers are and I just noticed her skin is super flaky and found few yellow scabs too. Is this normal? My other 3 girls don't have this. She seems...

27 week old cream legbar that is not laying yet.

my cream legbar laid her first egg at almost 26 weeks. There was no warning signs, her comb didn't seem too red, more pinkish and she never did the submissive squat for me. She still won't squat and her comb looks the same to me, not really all that red but she's been laying like crazy since...

What breed laid the first egg for you?

I think the blue egg gene comes from Araucana? I am not sure though. Mine lays green eggs though, I was really hoping for the sky blue eggs. If I ever get to buy a small farm I'd like to experiment with the breed, they are gorgeous. this is my very first egg from my marans next to a store...

    Chicken stopped laying

My marans started to lay at 18 weeks, only laid for 2 weeks and then stopped. I was worried she was sick or had mites etc. A month after she stopped laying I noticed she was missing feathers. Very little, couldn't tell unfilled I was really checking her all over for bugs. Lost feathers were...

Second was dominique at 20 weeks. Third black jersey giant at 23-4 weeks and last was cream legbar...

so my husband built a coop for our 4 pullets few months ago and I've been thinking about few changes to make it better. The issues: no ventilation no door that could be closed at night only one roost (and its round) - top 2 girls won't let the other 2 to roost would like to have food and water...

Scaly leg mites? Something else? Pic heavy

Thank you for the reply! The reason I thought they might have leg mites was the scales on the marans (first 4 pictures) looked kinda loose to me and with a little bit jagged edges. But I panic over every little thing so I wanted to get another opinion :) the thing on the 3rd picture was...

Scaly leg mites? Something else? Pic heavy

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to chickens and am slightly paranoid about my chicks being sick. I have 4 chicks around 26 weeks old. My marans started laying at 18 weeks, laid for about 2 weeks and then stopped. She acts pretty normal. The others are all laying. They all act normal. But I just...
