My wife calls me this morning saying that she has found what she believes is a rooster in the middle of our downtown city and says its hurt. She says its docile and allowed her to pick it up without any hesitation. She is a lover of all animals and brings it home for me to tend to it. I inspect...
I have some 10 week old hens that i purchased to replace some that were killed by an unknown predator and now am having more troubles of a different kind. A couple days after having them in the coop i noticed watering eyes and running noses on a few of the hens with even a couple keeping one...
Not yet but I have bought a trail camera to see what's coming around and also going to fence in a larger part of the yard so it will help correct that problem
Yea it's day five and still no sign of the girls. Guess I need to look into maybe doing a chicken tractor or possibly even getting a rooster for protecting the hens. Just hate that this happened to em.
I will look at replacing them in the spring I suppose.
Been going out twice a day looking but still no luck. The 2 I had found are starting to move around a bit so I'm hoping the others will also. But still no luck.
I just feel bad cause the 2 I found are from different groups that mill around so no doubt it's even hard in the coop.
Bad thing is this happened during the day about 1 hr before dark. I was going out to put them up when I noticed them missing. but I have always locked them up at night guess I will have to put them up sooner or make a chicken tractor for them
I live on 5 acres with more 5 acres plots all around me and my hens got attacked by some kind of predator a day ago. I seen three sets of feathers but no blood or body parts. I've looked everywhere calling for them and even shaking there treat bag non stop. Found 2 and still have 9 missing. I...
I looked for over an hour and now unfortunately it's nighttime here so I figured I would restart the search party first thing in the morning. Fingers crossed cause I feel bad for my ladies.
Looking for help! While free ranging some predator got ahold of a couple of my chickens. Out of 11 i found 2 and feathers to two more. I couldn't find anymore or even get them to make a peep. So my question is will they come back in the morning(if still alive) or will i still have to hunt for them?

I really have no clue the age of the hens but before I took them they said they were all laying pretty regularly. And now 2 are laying daily and 1 every other day making just a total of 3 laying. They all seem very happy and getting more and more comfortable with me.
As far as treats I would...
New to the chicken community as I just adopted a flock of 5 hens and have some basic questions about them. One is that not all the hens are laying but all seem to like the new home pretty well as I give treats daily thing to figure out what they like the most. Is this normal as one is an easter...
