Kwhit - not sure what you are looking at but the nest boxes are 3" off the floor of the coop.- jmc0319

Here is a picture of my first coop which I just completed. The bottom half of the wall next to the door swings up for easy access. I made it the same height as my wheel barrow for cleaning out. Indie the run area the right half of the wall (where the chicken door is) also swings open for...- jmc0319

What to do with pine shavings from coop?
I am totally new at this therefore have lots of questions. I am planning on using pone shavings in my coop and nest boxes. I will have between 6 and 8 hens. My question is what do I do with the shavings once they are dirty? What do others do?- jmc0319

Started Pullets
I am now at the point of ordering my started pullers. While I know this sounds like a dumb question, I have to ask. My inclination is to order two of each breed. Is that necessary? Does that matter? I am one of those people that like even numbers. :-)- jmc0319
