Decided to accept my father in laws offer of taking some peeps off of his hands while visiting his farm in Pennsylvania to take back to north Georgia with us.
My Wife picked out five out of six females and one rooster by accident....yep, they're 9 weeks old and the rooster definitely stands out...
They grow fast don't they?
I'm a newbie at this myself and was frantically building a coop to get them out of my basement.
They seem to love it outside.
I've got a a large belgian melanois shepherd that is tied next to the coop and she does not seem to want anything to do with the pullets but my little yorkie who is always at my wife's heel snuck past her the other day into the coop where our mature hens are and immediately attacked one.

My cats just sit and stare through the cage at them until they decide they can't penetrate the run then go off and hunt elsewhere.

I've been at work today building a run for the old coop that was given to me.
It needs some work but the cool thing is that it's over six feet tall so we can walk right in the door but it is small and needs a run built onto it.
I've got the sides of the ten foot long run built...
I did my homework and looked at a lot of photos and videos of chicken tractors and came up with something I thought would work well for our newly aquired chicks.
Although. I had a pretty good idea about what I wanted to build! the project just evolved as it came together.
