Why are my chicks loosing their feathers?

I have 50 straight run chicks and 9 straight run turkeys that are penned together. They are currently 5 weeks old. They've been doing great together! I know I'll need to separate them soon due to have fast turkeys grow. I've noticed some of my chicks are loosing their feathers. Are they old...

Anyone have an idea on what breed this is?

To me it appears as an Easter Egger with the speckle pattern but it had a bigger comb than my other Egger hens. So I'm leaning towards a Cinnamon Queen. Or it she something else?

Cockerel or Pullet? Gold Laced Wyandotte

Here is a close up and I'll try to get free standing pictures in the next day or so. Now that I'm questioning if it's a rooster I've been lookin at the rest of my flock. Some of them have larger waddles but have very little combs and some have about no waddle at all but yet they are all the same...

Cockerel or Pullet? Gold Laced Wyandotte

I've looked at several posts on here and pictures else where and I don't know what to think. I bought some chicks from my local store that are suppose to be pullets. Loving friends and family found out I bought some and brought me more. What started out as about a dozen chickens turned into...

Age of sexual maturity of roosters

I have a batch of leghorns that I hatched this spring. I ended up selling my hens to locals and got rid of most of my rooster chicks. I kept two to replace the older roosters in my flock. They are 14 weeks now. I put them together with my flock about a week ago. From what I noticed one of the...

    Duckling food? Help

I’ve always fed my baby ducks the DuMor chick starter from tractor supply. If you buy from rural king you should get the meat bird formula because the chick starter is medicated and I’ve heard it can make them very sick.

    Fertile bantam eggs?

I know how to do the fertile egg check or at least I think I do. Last February I got some bantam chicks from my local tractor supply. We had a few roosters but the winter got the best of them. I however have 2 leghorn roosters with our 22 hens (14 leghorn hens, 3 black sex links, and 5 bantams)...

Chicks fully developed but die before hatching?

I’ve been getting geared up to start a new batch. I put some themoters in and the top is 110° and the bottom was 102° that defiantly explains why they hatched early and 85% of the top shelf died. I lowered the temp. It helped the top but it dropped the lower shelf to low so I think it’s coming...

Chicks fully developed but die before hatching?

Okay say my problem is ventaltion related and I drilled some holes. I always read about closing the vent holes and opening them up on day 18. What do you suggest?

Chicks fully developed but die before hatching?

So the biggest thing is my temp reading is probably wrong and it’s higher than what it said caused them to hatch early? There are small vent holes 3-4 on the bottom near where the legs of the base are but the top only had small holes on the lid where the fan is located. I thought about only...

Chicks fully developed but die before hatching?

My family has never had a lot of luck hatching eggs. I blamed my fathers old incubator. I recently bought a new one that is a double decker with fans. My humidity for the first 18 days was 60-65 and my temp was 99.5°F. All the higher I could get my humidity to go after day 18 was 70. First...

    Hello.

Hello. I’m new to Backyard Chickens. I’ve been around chickens my entire life. My dad grew up on a 3,000 flock chicken farm up until he was 18 and then coverted to dairy. So we’ve always had chickens ranging from 20-100, depends on the year. We’ve always had leghorns. I also have some Kakhi...
