Just got some ducks friday, and they seem frightened when I go to change out there water or feed. They also run around trying to escape me when I put my hand in there brooder. Is this a normal thing? how do I get them to trust me?
yeah you know only oregon has this weather!! last month it was snowing!! now its 100 degrees. i have a thermastat and im adjusting the temps by bringing the heat lamp up and down. But i do have a fan to get the air cirrculating.
you know i really dont know ill find out everything for you. He gets off work soon so ill let you know as soon as possible. Have you tried looking at the feed stores? I also live in grants pass and there selling Americana chicks at our store here. I would also check out craigslist for eugene...
I live in Grants pass oregon and im having the same problems with my chickens. I put a sprinkler system in the coop and there loving it!! hope this heat passes
The only thing you can do is wait and see....... we have a bad coyote problem where i live, so i installed a motion light. I havent lost a chicken yet and i think its because of the light. But i also have a .22 loaded with hollow points and that takes care of them too.
Hope this helped
i talked to a friend that breeds all kinds of wild ducks and he said he will take it for me and try and nurse it back to health! Problem solved thanks everyone
All he said was his cat was trying to get it and he got it before the cat did. The little duck is actually doing better, more active and is drinking now. Ive rescued baby turkeys before but ducks are nothing like turkeys!
