Run 8 X 20 Run Door Here is the tool I made to stretch the chicken wire You attach the wire on the top of the run board, then hook the four nails on the tool in the wire at the bottom and put your knee on it pulling the wire tight and holding it as you staple it. It made it go ALOT faster!

A little worried -- Will chickens go to bed by themselves?

I had a problem with ours not going in the coop at the end of the day. They would all huddle on top of one another in a corner of the run. I was afraid a raccoon or something would grab them thru the fence since they were piled up right next to the fence. I put a 25 watt bulb in the coop and the...

How many Roosters is too much?

Thank you all.arkansaschicks,we will be doing the split run thing also since these roos are getting too beautiful to get rid of them all . We did get rid of the two Barred roos and have two young ones that will take their place when they get a little older. We have penned off the hen in the...

How many Roosters is too much?

Here is a video of what they have done to one Buff hen. You can see right at the end ,the one rooster runs over to her to go at her and she ducks her head down. I have a "double run" where the small run has a big run outside of it. I am getting rid of all but one, just can't decide which one...

How many Roosters is too much?

The roosters seem like they are the meanest to the oldest (3 year old) Buff hens. The Buff hens fight back and it seems like the older the roosters get,the more aggressive they are to the Buff's. Right now we have about 28 hens. Here are some pics of the 3 year old hens (ain't the Buff Purty!)...

How many Roosters is too much?

Hi,been awhile since I have posted, everything has really gone pretty good. I have 4 roosters now (got them all 4 from the last batch of chicks I bought this Spring) Are they gonna all get along? It seems that the older they get,the meaner they are getting with the fussing and basically being...

The girls are constantly pecking their rear feathers out!

Does any one know why our girls are constantly picking the rear end feathers out of one another? We had one that got bad enough that she got a bloody sore and we had to isolate her till she healed.

What Signs Do I Look for to Signal Start of Egg Laying

Right before ours started laying, their appetite seemed to really increase. We have 15 girls and we are getting 9 eggs one day and 6 the next so we are figuring they are laying every other day. All fifteen were born the last week of Feb.

    Blue Iodine?

We have a Buff Orpington that the flock has pulled out the feathers and pecked here above her tail feathers to the point that she has a sore (bleeding). We took her out of the coop and put her in the chick cage and she is healing well. What I was wondering is the name of the blue stuff you put...
