Mrs.B
I have read and reread your post. I adopted 2 chickens. 1 has already passed. The other was doing great. Laying regularly and has integrated into my little flock pretty well.
Yesterday she puffed up and started isolating.
This morning she is not moving.
I have felt her little...
I had 5 chickens. Averaged 4 eggs a day. In july my head chicken Bubbles died. Only 1 1/2 years old ( all my chickens are same age).
Since then only one chicken is laying? No change in feed, checked for mites..they all went through a ruff molt.
We are 4 months after bubbles death and I don't...
I want to thank you for your guidance. I will check all that you have suggested.
We have twin granddaughters and this is what they wanted for Christmas last year. They raised these girls from hatchlings.
We have a great fenced area 80ft x 25ft along with a coop for their safety and comfort...
I feel silly asking. How do you check?
I apologize and thank you for your help.
As a child we had chickens. Just regular old white chickens that were a farm staple.
As I said above, I'm relatively new to backyard chicken raising in adult life and I had no idea that chickens had so many issues 😁
Hello everyone!
Her name is Mini. She was my beautiful buff baby.
Age: 1 1/2 yrs.
Behavior change as follows: will not leave coop. I physically pick her up and put her @ water or feeder 3 times daily. This has been going on for 3 weeks. I thought she had gone "broody" but now her feather...
Ok..on scratch & peck. I had not heard that before.
And yes, we mix our feeds. We always have and have always had consistent egg laying behavior. The "egg eating" is a new behavior.
In the last 4 days we were suddenly down to 1 egg a day (from 5).
This morning when hubby went out for morning release he caught the little buggers eating eggs.
It's our 1st experience with this behavior.
Any thoughts?
ps..yes they get oyster shell supplements
My Easter egger&Ameraucuna haven't laid a egg since molting? It's been approximately 10 weeks. The Ameraucuna had a really hard 1st molt. Any suggestions or advice?
