Two year old muscovy drake around Pensacola, FL Area

Hello. I have a muscovy drake that has recently began picking on and killing my chickens. Anybody in the area need another duck? He gets along with other ducks, geese, and dogs.

    Chicken limping. Is this bumblefoot?

This evening I noticed one of my hens was limping and hopping. I brought it in for an examination. One of its toes has a slightly swollen area, but it is not very big. I've never had a chicken with bumblefoot before so I'm not sure if this is it or not. I'm putting some pictures below. Does...

Okay. We will try that tonight.

Hen keeps moving to a new nest.

Hello! I have a first time broody hen. The gen switches nests everyday but doesn't take her eggs with her. Is she doing this because something is "wrong" with the eggs? Or is she just confused? She leaves her eggs, and goes and sits on freshly laid eggs. Any Advice to get her to stay on the...

    Question about Broody Hen

We just candled the eggs and we saw one of the embryo's in one of the eggs moving, so it appears that it is still alive. One's shell is too thick to see anything and the other one was super porous and hadn't developed any. Fingers crossed they will still hatch. :)

    Question about Broody Hen

Hello! We currently have a Maran sitting on three eggs. There have been times where we have come home and noticed that the hen has switched nests but did not take her eggs with her. This has happened twice, and we aren't sure how long she was off of them. Is it possible that these eggs are...

Questions about hens raising their youngins. :)

Hello! My husband and I have had chickens for two years now, but have always raised them ourselves from chicks. Currently as far as chickens go, we have Easter Eggers, Rhode Island Reds, Sex Links, Silver-Laced, Dominqiues, and a Leghorn. We also have four ducks and two geese. Recently, we...

Question about my male duck being fertle.

How long does it take for the ducks inside to start moving? I saw the goose off of the nest today but I had to get to class so I wasn't able to try. By "candling," do you mean you just put a bright light up to the egg in a dark place?

Question about my male duck being fertle.

She never gets off of them. When we try to move her she tries to attack us! I'll see what we can do though. Does candling hurt the baby?

Question about my male duck being fertle.

Here is another picture. I'd rather not sacrifice an egg. It's been sitting on them for quite awhile so if it is possible that they are alive I'd like to leave it that way.

Question about my male duck being fertle.

So, long story short... I have a goose laying on a nest of both duck eggs and geese eggs. The geese eggs will not hatch because we have no male goose. We do have a male duck, but we think he is partial a Muscovey. I have heard from somewhere that if the duck is a half-breed of Muscovy it...

    Sick Hen - Nasty Poop

One of my hens has been acting strange since yesterday. She has been sitting a lot, and was even sitting in a bowl of water. I thought she may be egg bound, so I brought her in, let her soak in a warm bath, gave her calcium, - the usual egg bound regimen. This morning she has not laid and...

That's what we are hoping for.

    Goose flew the coop, question.

It hasn't come home yet. We have seen it once, but it was a few days ago. Haven't seen it since. :( I did clip my other two geese wings.
