Thank you. I assume nature can just take its course, I will just give it a try and see what happens.

    Want to hatch some chicks

I have 25 hens of various breeds , 3 of which are Ameraucana's and 1 rooster that is an Ameraucana. I want more Ameraucana's , so how do I accomplish that ? Do I need to separate the Ameraucana's from the rest of the flock and let them procreate ? How do I know when the eggs are fertile? I am...

Chicken pastures complete. Pics on #19

Thanks for responding to my inquiries. I have 3 cats so I know how horrific the litter box can be- I have to clean that everyday- sometimes twice a day. If the chicks are not worse than that I can deal with it. I can't even think about hatching eggs- I am nervous about caring for the babies ...

Chicken pastures complete. Pics on #19

Patman-thanks for the quick response. Duh- that does make sense now that you point out the snow and ice would make it difficult to move the tractor around. Like I said , I am SO new to this. I am thinking I should wait at least a year to be knowledgeable enough to handle this. I have waited...

Chicken pastures complete. Pics on #19

I am so new to this , but have a question. If you use a chicken tractor for your chickens how often should you move it for your lawn to stay nice and green and lush? Also, do you also need a separate coop for them or do they "live in the chicken tractor"? We are purchasing a new home sitting on...

My Chickies are Here!!!!! PICTURES NOW!!

I don't know a Lavender from a Pearl or a keet. It is like you are all speaking a foreign language. I also don't know how you can keep from squeezing them so hard their little eyeballs pop out. So sweet ! Does the Post Office call you when they arrive ?

Best flower for the vegetable garden?

I have found that Marigold's are the easiest to grow and are a deterrent for rodents. I love Lilies also- I have tiger lilies and they are so low maintenance - they do spread so be careful where you plant them.

    Brand- spanking - new

I am new to chickens and have been dreaming and wishing and hoping for several years now that I can someday have some girls of my own to learn about, laugh about and grow attached to. At age 51 I know absolutely nothing except what I have read in books about keeping chickens. I am currently a...
