    Dumb question..

Tonight will be my chicks first night in the coop. It's hot outside. Windows stay open, I'm assuming, or do I close them?

    Why don't they like her???

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Why don't they like her???

I have an EE that's about 10 weeks old now or thereabout. A while back, her brooder mates picked out all of her back feathers and that was horrible. She healed up from that and ever since, we've been trying to get the other chickens to accept her. We've done the thing where we section her off...

    5 week old Cuckoo Marans

Boooo! I dislike this thread now. lol I got her sexed, too, so I didn't think a thing of it until tonight. You know how you just kind of get used to looking at your birds? I hadn't noticed the giant comb or red wattles. Blah. I really didn't want to have to start a new chick but I'll...

I spotted those tonight, too and they're pretty red, not just regular pink. Hm. I'm worried. ETA: She suddenly got really aggressive tonight toward the others which made me think twice about her pullethood. lol

Just making sure she's a she... The comb is pretty big but it has been since she hatched. Just checking to see what everyone else thinks.

    What do you think?

Quote: True! He/she is about 4 weeks.

    What do you think?

Cockerel or pullet? (the one in the middle, about 4 weeks old)

Do I have to cull him?

Any more opinions out there? I'm still lost on what I should do.

Do I have to cull him?

It has rained all day but the sun just came out! I'm going to let them out and see if that will help things.

    Bedding and DE

Be careful of Ebayers. My mom used to work for a lady who Ebayed, too. She used to sell food grade DE and fill her bags with the stuff from the hardware store. Shady, shady, shady.

Do I have to cull him?

If I found him another home, I wouldn't want for it to happen to that person's chickens, too. I'm thinking his new home might just be 3 feet in the ground. I don't know... I put him back in with the others, even the injured one. And I have to add that I'm not even 100% sure that it's him...

Do I have to cull him?

Quote: LOL That's certainly true! I don't want to cull him but if it's for the best.... Ugh. I can't keep him either way.

Do I have to cull him?

I thought it would be worth adding that this happened a couple of days after changing their bedding to sand. Is it possible that he filled up on sand and stopped eating his feed? I switched back to pine and he's eating his feed. He's isolated right now, btw.

Do I have to cull him?

It's possible that they're a little cramped. They need to be out in the coop/run during the day but we hit a snag. If they have more room, could he be saved? He's shown NO signs of aggression so far. He's always been the sweetest of the group. The one he attacked is the one that let him...
