Just wanted to share this picture I took today of my son and my chickens! Yes it's a boy, he's our fourth boy so my wife is picky about his hair since I've failed to give her any girls :-( I hope all is well with everyone!
I got another one today! I also cracked open the other one to see if it had a yolk or not and it does, a little one. Take a look and tell me what you think please.[/IMG]
I started out with an already laying flock of chickens. After purchasing them I decided I wanted more so I went to my local Tractor Supply and bought a couple black sex-link pullets. They're about 15 weeks or so now and I think one may have just laid its first egg. But the egg is really small so...

First of all, my condolences to you and your family. But it is a beautiful example of the circle of life that your granddaughter will be born so close to your mother's birthday. So for second, congratulations to you and your family.
The 15 month old hens are: 1 Black Sex-link, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 1 Pullin (I think) and then 3 white ones with a few black feathers. I really can't remember what they are. The lady that sold them to me said but you know. The 2 chicks are Black Sex-link.
I just joined BYC last week and found this thread today. There are certainly a lot of people from Texas here. Anyway, just thought I'd say hi. I'm NW of San Antonio near Bandera.
