    Thanks for the suggestion. Will have to look at how its rigged. I already use a solar panel for my automatic door closer. It works beautifully. Got it more than 9 months ago and its working perfectly. Solar makes sense. Thanks.

    I am going to build the roof of my chicken coop same as you: Using tar paper and shingles. Am not going to add the skylight. Aren't there supposed to be special nails for shingles? Have modified my design for a 4'x6' coop.
