They all seem to feel pretty average I don't feel anyone's breast bone or squishy abdomens. They're eating normally, they're drinking, they're all very active, they're scratching the ground normally, dust bathing, the younger ones are laying pretty much every day and the older ones are laying...
Hi everyone, I've been noticing lately with my birds that they all seem to have runny bottoms. It's not a lot but its enough for me to notice. Only one of my hens seems build up a lot on her bottom. About a year ago I changed their feed to what I though was a better quality feed, and all this...
She ended up passing away while I was preparing to euthanize her. It all happened so quickly I wish I could of been more of a help to her! I'm thinking of changing the feed again because I've never had this issue before until I started using this feed. The vets in my area have all told me they...
Also I noticed all of my other hens are having poo get stuck to their bottoms. Everyone is acting fine and it isn't a lot getting stuck to them, but this has never happened before until I changed their feed almost a year ago. I switched it because I thought it was a better quality feed. I switch...
My 4 year old easter egger suddenly became lethargic yesterday. I haven't had any issues with her up until this point and she was even still laying eggs basically every few days or every other day. I brought her inside and to soak her, and I didn't feel any eggs inside her but her belly did feel...
Thank you so much for the information I will do as much research as I can. He gave me Meloxidyl and the other says SMZ TMP on the label. I hope she turns around, but I will make plans to put her down if I need to.
I took her to the vet today and they diagnosed it as egg yolk peritonitis. They gave me antibiotics to give her, but they don't think the outlook is good. I really don't know much about this and plan to do more research. Is there anything else I can do for her?
So far all of her droppings have been extremely runny will they still be able to test them? Is there a way I should collect the feces where I won't compromise it? Do you think I should be treating her for anything in the meantime, my vet takes forever when I have to give them feces samples for...
A lot of the vets in my area won't treat chickens, and the only exotic vet in my area is extremely expensive. Is this common in older hens? Am I doing something wrong should I be feeding my older hens special feed because of their age? Is there anything I could do to help her? I can call some...
Hi everyone, I noticed my red sex-link has been acting semi lethargic for the past few days. Now I say semi lethargic because she is acting some what aware of her surroundings and will still come to the gate to be let outside does come running for treats and her comb and wattels are still red...
Thank you for the response. She's my only hen that does it too. I was getting concerned because it seems to happen a lot, but she acts completely normal so I'm sure everything is fine
Hi everyone, my black copper maran has always seemed to lay eggs with meat spots in it. Sometimes it a lot sometimes it's a little but it always seems like she lays an egg with an imperfection inside it. I really don't think I've ever gotten an egg without something in it, she's a little over a...
