    Hen with swelling above eye

Hi everyone! I went to my dads today and one of my hens has a swollen red spot above her right eye. It’s isnt obstructing her vision and she looks and acts completely normal aside from her little lump (so no mucus or weeping or anything like that), there was also no abrasion and the other eye...

    Hen with cracked foot

I actually went with savlon antiseptic cream as the Nu stock is quite expensive to get in Australia and shipping would have taken quite a while, it did the job great

    Hen with cracked foot

Hi everyone! Very late update, I treated both hens the same and cleaned, disinfected and wrapped the feet. Worked a charm and both hens feet were healed in no time! Thanks so much for your help

    Hen with cracked foot

Thank you so much. If I may ask another question about another hen of mine, do you think that this case of bumblefoot would benefit from the ointment treatment or should I just straight up go with surgery? She isn’t limping and it isn’t swollen, but obviously requires some form of treatment.

    Hen with cracked foot

Thank you! I figured it would be something like that. How often would you suggest I reapply the ointment and rewrap the foot?

    Hen with cracked foot

Hi everyone, I was taking care of my girls scaly legs last night (the constant battle) and noticed that the sole of my welsummers foot is very cracked. Is this something that can be caused by scaly leg mites or maybe the beginnings of bumblefoot? She doesn’t appear to be in pain or discomfort...

    Teeny tiny sebright egg

She’s definitely a new layer, she’s only been laying for 2-3 months (five or take), this is the first time she’s lay an ‘abnormal’ egg though.

    Teeny tiny sebright egg

I decided not to eat it, or fry it up and gave it to the chickens to eat instead. I would probably at least try to fry it in the future

    Teeny tiny sebright egg

My housemate accidentally opened it up and look at it! So tiny!

    Teeny tiny sebright egg

that makes a lot of sense as it is a more creamy shade and she is a new layer! I’ve promised to wait to open it up so my housemates, my boyfriend and one of our neighbours can see what’s inside, we’re all pretty excited haha Thanks so much for this information, very helpful and interesting!

    Teeny tiny sebright egg

Hi everyone! My sebright has been laying regularly for about 3-4 months, but today she lay the smallest chicken egg I have ever seen. I am not too concerned just more curious to hear what people think. Here are a couple of photos of the egg, one of her regular eggs and the lady herself.

    Hen with unusually large crop

I was away for a couple of days when I posted this as my parter has been injured and needs looking after, when I got back home her crop had gone back to normal and no longer swells. I will still be monitoring her as closely as I can. I did not notice lack of appetite, in fact she was...

    Hen with unusually large crop

I’ve noticed in the last 2-3 days my welsummer hen has an enlarged crop. It doesn’t seem to be affecting her movement or appetite but it definitely looks bigger than it’s supposed to. I couldn’t get any good photos front on, she moves around a lot

My chicken has an upturned nail

Thank you! I did notice she had some leg mites, I was away for a week and had my housemate looking after them so I haven’t quite had the time to jelly up their legs, luckily I have the time this week!
