Hi,
I have a new born dove. It was born on 04/19. The mom and dad have been feeding it and it is growing in size.
It only rarely opens its eyes. The main concern I have is that is still not standing up on its own and is still crawling around the nest.
When can I expect it to stand up and...
Thank you for your feedback. How to check for frost bite? The birds are in reasonably warm weather - 50F to 75F.
I put her on the perch today and she stayed on the perch for some time and finally got down. It looks like she may have hurt or sprained one of her legs - visually I couldn't see...
I have had a pair of ringneck doves. The female laid 2 eggs a few weeks back. The eggs were not fertile and did not hatch.
I threw the eggs away.
About 2 weeks, later, she laid 2 more eggs - the eggs were fragile and broke. One broke on the female and she was in a complete egg mess.
So, I...
I candled the egg using an iPhone flashlight. I just see clear liquid, and no veins etc. It is ~16 days since the two eggs were laid. These are the first set of eggs laid by my dove. Looks like unfertilized eggs. When should I expect them to lay again?

What should I expect to see when I candle the egg (iPhone Flashlight) at day 16?
Would the mom stop...
I have a pair of ringneck doves. The first egg was laid on 12/01. I was out of town and returned back on 12/03, I noticed a second egg. The mom has been sitting on the eggs for a lot of time. She only steps out for food and water. The dad sits on it when mom goes about to eat and drink.
The...
I live in Houston and I have 6 month old Coturnix quails. I have them in a bird cage nicely covered up. When the temperature falls below 40F, I move them from outside and keep them in the garage until the weather warms up a little.
I would like to know what temperatures Coturnix quails can...
I have had 4 Coturnix Quail hens for about 5 months now. I have had them since they were 6 weeks old in July 2013.
