I love my black sexlink and I’ve actually found every one that I’ve met to be super friendly! I also love my Orpingtons, Dominique, silkies, and my New Hampshire red rooster!
We got him from a breeder and I did look at the parents and I didn’t notice a crossbeak. He said that all of this eggs were incubated so maybe that could have been the issue. I have been making him a mash but still offering dry food. I am worried he is not getting enough water but he does try...
One of our 5 baby chicks, our silkie, has scissor beak. He will be 2 weeks old on Sunday and we noticed his beak about 3 days ago and it has only gotten worse. Is there anything we can do to get rid of it while he is young, or is there any treatment to lessen the cross? :( picture is from...
Thank you very much! I think she definitely had multiple problems. She would get so angry being held and would sit with her mouth open and breath very heavily. We think that plus being slightly tipped forward for a quite large hen could have caused her to choke. She wasn’t as loving as our other...
Aw I am so sorry to hear that. And yes we were frantically trying to revive her but there was nothing we could have done. It’s just so sad still thinking about it. I just keep thinking like only if we hadn’t decided it was time for a clean that day. She was definitely loved. I had just painted...
She didn’t seem to be prolapsed. She actually hadn’t laid us an egg in years which could have also been a problem but we had asked about that before and were told that some hens stop laying eggs sooner than others. I think she had more than one thing wrong for sure. :(
Okay I will look into one, thank you! I just went and checked on them and they seemed to be doing fine, they aren’t directly under the light but they also aren’t huddled together.
I have 5 new baby chicks 3 Lavender Orpingtons and 2 Black silkies, they are absolutely precious. They are currently in a smaller plastic tub (I read it was okay to use) but I will be upgrading when they get a little bigger( they are 5 days old). Anyways, I have a heat lamp which I got from...
Here is one of my 5 day old Lavender Orpingtons! I’m also wondering their gender. One of them seems to be a bit more outgoing and braver than the others so I am betting it’s a rooster. I have read that Orpingtons are especially hard to sex so we may just have to wait until they crow haha
Aw thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it! ❤️ We think it could have been one of 2 things, we think she could have suffocated from what we read and from the noise and facial expression she had, which I can’t get out of my head but I wasn’t sure if that was just her being...
I cannot even imagine that 😪that is awful, I am so sorry to hear that! And thank you so much for your condolences, it was just such a unfortunate series of events that I wish I could change but I am glad that I now know not to hold chickens in that way.
