    Do injured chickens lay eggs?

I guess my question is while laying down most of the time while healing from an attack, will she get egg bound or will nature keep her from laying until she’s well. She does not eat or drink or walk without help. It’s only been a week and a half. She is getting a bit perkier I took her to vet...

how in the heck do you keep white chickens clean looking?

I have 3 white hens and they are definitely well housed. They free range during the day and they always look dirty as well. the Florida sand here is grayish with blackish and that is mostly the color of my chickens. I think they do shake off their dust bath, but either some stays on, or the...

Ok, so freaking out even more...but Crop is fine, no bugs, no loss of feathers, she is beautiful as always. Yes she can walk just fine. I feed them regular chicken food (not layer) I guess grower? At will and of course always bunches of water with ice and apple cider and garlic (just a little...

Can a Hen get off feed before first egg

Ok done. The other chickens are freaking out especially the rooster, his favorite hen. All the other ones are trying to get in the coop. This won’t stress her out?

Can a Hen get off feed before first egg

I went out this am and all the chickens came running like always, except one hen. I of course freaked out (I have hawks which I lost 3 babies too, another story for later). I am so worried, my Hen who is definitely showing all the signs I have read about is acting very lethargic and did not...

    Severe Storms and Chickens

Ya know what you mean. I guess they would be pretty sad being locked up during rainy/hurricane season. They sure don’t seem to mind so I am letting them decide lol

    Severe Storms and Chickens

I have to share. Told you my chickens were ducks at heart. They have a really hard worked on coop that is nice and dry and this is their preference. I love it! I don’t know if you can tell but it is still raining and they look like drowned rats. Chickens are smart right?

Do hens leave flock to go to coop to lay eggs?

I have read so much, but as you can see the question is kinda long for a search. At any rate... My chickens free range and haven’t started laying yet, but should be close. My question is... will they just leave the flock and go back to the coop to lay their eggs? I have all the nesting boxes...

    Severe Storms and Chickens

I am laughing now. Thanks guys. I live in Florida and Big storms are really a normal thing. We just had a doozy. I let my girls free range from when ever I get up 😜 to just before dark. If I go out early they look at me like ...seriously? At any rate I was just curious with this storm...

    Hawks

Well as you can see in the pic life got exciting and horrible. I have a coop with a small outdoor run attached. I have bird net over it except one small area so I can get in when I need to. This guy must have gone through that and into the coop to get my baby. Grrrrrr. So now I have out the...

    Hi there

I am a new member. I have been enjoying the site and decided to join. A bit about me. I used to live on 150 acre farm and had pretty much every farm animal there is. Including chickens of course! The biggest difference is that when you have so many animals to care for you don’t really get a...
