    Haha! Yes -- a dozen can be a lot. I couldn't add the chicks back in, but now I've integrated flocks (we had older ones) but the mama of those chicks was a buff orpington and she was taken ... atacked I think.

    Oh gosh, yes. It went well. Only had to help the one. This was last September and had 13 hatch. 1 did not, but it was a twin. and 2 died under broody mom after the first 2 hatched under her before we move the rest to an incubator since she wasn't paying them enough attention.

    How to transition to outside

    Yes we were going to make a U shape of hay bales and such to create a warm part of the tractor. And the weather seems it will be staying colder for a while. I'm in SW Indiana. And I was going to also put deeper bedding on the one side. They also have a thicker roost for them all to fit on.

    Not sure if it's 100%, but I found a site that said when you pull out their wing if it has a 2nd layer of feathers on the outermost wings then it's a girl, if not it's a boy.

    I think one of mine in our bator might be a twin. I don't have any help, but wanting to know what to look out for. It's our first hatch and we're already having some little issues (staggered hatch and weird humidity issues)

    I did that. It still dropped so then I found out that our incubator has holes we can squirt water in ... unfortunately now I can't open at least one egg has pipped (I can see it's beak) and the humidity was holding and now it's in the 80's
