Cutting sounds easiest/best for them, so I will do that. Thank you. Glad it’s just poopy!
No this is the only one that looks like this. I chased the rest down and inspected and they all have healthy butts :)
Hey there. Some of my hens just started laying this week. I have 5 hens, but have only gotten 3 eggs/day max, so some still haven’t started laying. I’m not sure if this hen has started to lay or not, but I noticed it’s butt has some funny looking stuff in its feathers. I figured it’s just dried...
I’m not certain on age but ABOUT 20-23 weeks old. I haven’t noticed any squatting or any other behaviors :(. I have golf balls in the nesting boxes just in case.
I know there is no definitive answer to this question, but I am anxious and just want everyone’s opinion! Here are my 5 chickens, do y’all think they’ll start laying soon!?
Lots of good advice in this whole thread if you read through. Good idea on keeping her in the run but in her dog crate. I’ll move her in there today. Goodluck with your baby
No egg stuck.
I gave her an epsom salt bath and she loved it. Now she’s comfy inside. She’s still eating and drinking and loves treats. I hope this helps.
Giving her some ground up vitamin b on her food and 1/2 a baby aspirin daily (she just takes the half pill like it’s food haha).
Any...
It’s been a couple days, and she has started making a really weak, low, growl type noise. And she still isn’t walking.... sits on one side. I don’t know what to do.
I would think it’s safe to assume she was not vaccinated. The people I bought her from made me feel like it was more like rescuing her... I take B vitamins everyday myself so that’s good. Is it safe to just give it to all my chickeys?
Thanks for all the questions. Let’s see:
She puts a little weight on it but seems to limp. She does not drag it. And I don’t think it’s paralyzed because she can pull it away from me when she doesn’t want to be picked up.
She is 15 weeks old approximately.
I have a ladder leaning against...
My chicken has been favoring one of its legs and has not been really moving at all. And when it does it limping. I rubbed the leg all over and inspected the foot and couldn’t find any signs of an injury, and when I squeeze her little feet she didn’t seem to wince at all as if she was bruised...
Yep it’s three boxes. I may put more private dividers between them in the future if they seem to want it.
I might put something for them to hop up on if they seem to need it but as of right now get have no problem getting in and out of the boxes.
Thanks!!! I like to stay busy :wee
I really...
Here’s what I did. I bought the ladder for the coop for pretty cheap, so I’m going to keep it in here as a “play ground”. But to replace the roost I found some pieces of 2x4 so I hung them staggered in the corner of the coop. I didn’t lower the nesting boxes cause they already have no problem at...
I don’t mind the multiple messages, just appreciate the advice. Trying to figure out my hens desires and get ideas. I’ll lower the nesting boxes, but a hinged “door” on them for night, and put a thick bamboo roost up higher with some lower ones for them to play on. I’ll let y’all know how it...
Do you think just curtains would be enough to keep them out? And my grandma has a lot of bamboo she just thinned out- would they use that if I went from one side all the way to the other, and higher than the nesting boxes?
