    So…. This was supposed to be a hen…I got it from a neighbor who got a shipment of various breeds of pullet chickens. It reminded me of my barred rock that died. Is this a barred rock roo or a Maran. I think it’s a Maran roo.

    Most chickens grow them. It’s a species feature. The males will have SIGNIFICANT spurs. We trim our Silkie roo. His are noticeable…I put the little covers on them so he wouldn’t hurt the girls so much.
