Partner has told me the chickens have to go

Yes they are perfectly legal where we are, but the main problem is worrying about eviction. It's more that if they make any noise my partner is terribly worried that the neighbours will complain to the landlord and we will be evicted. We've been in our property for 4 years and had the chickens...

Partner has told me the chickens have to go

My partner and I have been together for 6 years, we made a joint decision to get a couple of chickens a year ago. We live on a friendly suburban housing estate, houses all around us. Every other morning about 8.30-9.30 the girls make a squarking noise because they are about to lay an egg. Once a...

    Letting hens raise chicks?

Is it possible to let mother hen do all the work? Can she raise them in the coop on her own? Surely it must be possible, I know chickens are fairly domesticated but they must still have the instinct?

Anyone use SAND in the run/coop

I use builders/construction sand. You can get it from any builders merchants. Very cheap and I use it in both the coop and the run :) I also put cinnamon in the sand as it keeps bugs away. Not that the chickens mind as they like to eat them but they are only ever in there at night anyway and...

So I stumbled upon something today that has completely blown me away and was wondering if anyone else has had the same results? I have been putting raw egg whites on my face now...
