    Hen is completely not herself....

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Unfortunately we lost Meriweather. But she hung on until I was holding her in front of the pellet stove. So I know she was happy and warm and she knew she was loved. Thank you all for all of your help and ideas. I appreciate it so much. <3

    Hen is completely not herself....

Well as of now the vet has not offered me anything but will do more research. She is still learning about them but not a whole lot of choice around here. She is eating some grass that I pulled. And still drinking. Right now she is standing in front of the pellet stove getting warm. And thank you...

    Hen is completely not herself....

Well.... we went to the vet. Had an xray done. Something from her gizzard passed that wasn't supposed to and is now blocking her system. If we can't get it to pass, we'll lose her. She is finally drinking, with some encouragment, vinegar water. But is still not eating. She is getting weaker...

    Hen is completely not herself....

I will check for eggbinding tonight. If she is, I hope just a warm bath will help her get it to pass. And yes, if something smells wrong I will start the meds. I feel bad that I didn't ask last night and waited until now. =/

    Handling my chicks right?

Binza1979: Thank you for the tip! I will definitely keep it up. What do you suggest for treats? And at how old should I start giving them the treats? Murphy212: I'm glad I'm not the only one facing these issues! Only a few of mine will fall asleep or calm down when I'm holding them. A few of...

    Handling my chicks right?

Hello! I'm the proud owner of my first set of chicks! I've had them since they were a day-two days old. I've been handling them quite a bit. They are about a week and a couple of days old now. I've been handling them since day one, and I try to hold each one for at least a couple of minutes...

Is something wrong or am I being a Mother Hen?

Ok. Thank you so much. I'm just such a worrier and after losing our one bantam I'm just a nervous wreck. But thank you for calming me down.

Is something wrong or am I being a Mother Hen?

I am very new to raising chicks. I got my first set of chicks this past Monday. I got 6 bantams and 8 brown egg layers. I still do not know which breeds they are yet. Last night, however, we lost one of our bantams. Completely out of the blue. She was acting normal, just like the rest of them...

    Well Hello Everyone!

I'm AshleyMae. I'm a newlywed and in my early twenties. My husband and I live on a big plot of land that is everything from woods, to farmland, to a creek and fields. I have always wanted to have a "mini" farm and decided that now would be a great time to do it! So what better to start off with...
