So far the ducks have returned to the chicken coop at night most nights and we have not had an issue. I’ve left them be just because the chicken coop is larger and better insulated for heat. I don’t keep any food or water in my coop to cut down on rodents so I’m not worried about the wetness...
Tonight we came home to find our 4 ducks (2 male, 2 female) in the corner of our chicken coop with our 8 hens who were all up on their roosts. They all free range together but have had their own separate housing for the last year. The duck house is about 20 feet from the chicken coop. The duck...
Good Morning, I have chantecler chickens and although they are much older than yours (24 weeks when they started laying) 3 out of 5 of them went broody just after laying eggs for one month. They sat in the nesting boxes all day and and night except for in the morning when I fed them. The...
Just an update, I took her to the vet today and decided to have her euthanized. She had multiple broken egg shells in her reproductive tract which they thought may have been caused by a tumor blocking the passage of the eggs. Ultimately this resulted in an infection and also was blocking the...

We have ended up with a few too many cockerels this year and are looking to Rehome them. We are in western N.Y. between Rochester and Buffalo. We have barred rock and Brahma cockerels that are about 16 weeks old and one rainbow rooster that is 9 months old if anybody is interested.
Thank you all for all the suggestions. Unfortunately the little one never pooped anything more than the pale pasty stuff and he died this afternoon. The other one is doing just fine and is back with the others.
I bought some new chicks at my local feed store this morning and in my excitement did not look them over first. Two of my Brahma chicks have pasty butt pretty bad. I cleaned them off in warm water and set them on a heating pad together until they dried. They are now in their own little...
