anyone know how old chanteclers are when they lay? i have been looking and can't get a week number. i have two lovely hens that are holding out!

their combs are not as red as my other hens yet, i bought them all at the same time as laying hens...approx. 17 wks. +, fully feathered and checking out the nest boxes.

any ideas might be useful, thanks!

I think ALL chickens range from around 18-25 weeks or so before laying.

thanks...i wondered if they were a later maturing breed, and maybe the info i found was incorrect.

everyone else laying, but NOT the chanteclers! but this morning, i caught one of them in the nesting boxes, so maybeeeee.....

Miss Jayne,

So when did your ladies start laying.

I have one partidge Chantelcer and she is 18 weeks old. Since she has no comb, no waddles it is hard to guess when it might happen.

montana...

she never did, and all the chickens in that flock became ill....they were culled. she was way over 20 weeks though!

sorry i couldn't be of help. they should start at about 20 weeks give or take no matter what.

My 25 week old Chantecler still hasn't started laying!!! She has no comb, and still lays poop the size of a robin!!

I have read that they were suppose to be early maturing, but she is the last one.

Anyone with Chanteclers able to share when theirs started laying.

I have 5 buff Chanteclers. Only 2 are laying and they are 33 weeks old. The 2 that are laying just started laying in the last 3 weeks.
