I have a hen that has been laying soft eggs for about 4 days. She's a year old, has been on Oyster Strong feed AND has free feed of oyster shell at all times. I'm at a loss at what to do. The first one I thought was a fluke, but now I'm worried.

I have TONS of spider webs in my coop AND run! They are driving me crazy! Sadly, I had just come in from the coop after being in there for about 1/2 hour and went back about 5-10 min later to retrieve my spoon and my little Peaches was laying dead in the corner. She was FINE 10 minutes...

1. How do you tell if a hen is broody? I'm pretty sure my 2 silkies are, but I'm not sure. 2. If they are, what do you do if you don't have fertilized eggs? I don't have a rooster. I went to the "broody" thread, but it was sooooo long and I couldn't find my answers there. THANKS!!

Poop boards are a great idea. I do deep litter, so I guess I could just scrape it off to the floor.

I have 2 Silikies and 12 other various other breeds. Well, my Silkies insist on sleeping under the roosts. Sooooo they constantly have chicken poop on them at all times. It's driving me crazy, but I'm at a loss what to do. Any suggestions?

I found this this morning in one of my nests Is this what is considered "soft shell" and should I be worried? I'm not sure who laid it.

Two of my 14 hens are silkies. They are my favorite (shhhh)...My black one is the sweetest thing ever! I wish I could keep her in the house as a pet, lol. (the hubs would have a stroke). I love their fluffiness!

I know there is a plethora of opinions and options so you have to go with your gut (it never fails ) but what about the stuff I've read about DL being a hotbed for bacteria? Personally from what I've read on this forum, I tend to not believe it, but...

Thanks Blooie. Maybe it's best I wait till spring when it's time to clear out the sand. My coop floor is concrete, so maybe DL won't work for me anyway.
