    Dutch Bantams Breed Thread

Thank you JeanR for your attention. Here is a cute picture. From the left it is definite cockeral, possible hen, quail D'anver, and possible roo. Btw in the middle pic in my last post the possible roo is furthest back.

    ALABAMA!!

Epsom helps but it really just softens the corn so its easier to remove. There is an herbal remedy. I know it can be ordered online but idk where.

Here are some better photos of the suspect cock. I think the comb development is equal on both. On the right in the first image & the left in the second. h.

    Dutch Bantams Breed Thread

Hi I've been raising 3 cream light brown dutch chicks. They are 3 weeks now & 2 have little pink combs. Though their coloring is quite different. I'm hoping that out of the 3 at least 1 is a hen. I've read though that early combs are a sure giveaway with dutch.

Should I Cancel My Chick Order?

I think that Mt Healthy has a systemic issue. They've had salmonella outbreaks several years in a row.

They stayed out in the igloo doghouse coop I have last night, it got down to at least 38. They were with 2 big chickens & 2 regular feathered bantams with the 2 silkies. I have the a wind block in the door and ventilation holes at the top. They seem fine today.

Avoiding soy, canola, & cotton seed in chicken feed.

Yeah I thought about getting one when I used to bake a lot of bread. Now I don't eat any grains & I feel better for it. I do have a burr grinder for coffee I wonder how much grain that could process?

Avoiding soy, canola, & cotton seed in chicken feed.

I thought about making my own, a grinder is pretty expensive too though. I will keep countryside in mind it is a bit cheaper than H&H where I have been getting my chick starter from.

Avoiding soy, canola, & cotton seed in chicken feed.

I am looking for a chicken feed that is affordable but doesn't contain canola, soy or cotton. I am not averse to bone meal, blood meal or fish meal. Unfortunatly all of the feed mills who would be willing to make such a feed for me would require me to buy a ton. For 6 chickens this is not...

My chickens LOVE coconut! I make my own coconut milk from coconut flakes & so I have a ton of leftover flakes. I dry them in the sun or oven & mix some in with their food daily or let them eat some from my hand to win their love. They like it as much as they like mealworms!
