We were worried she may not be able to handle a bigger amount of food at once. But I have been increasing the amount at each feeding. She has perked up and even had a kale salad after her feeding before bed last night. She is drinking very well! I am just about to go down and do another feeding...
Wildlife advise small amounts. We did 25 mls of the liquid slurry and it was given at about 3 o'clock (2.5hrs ago) She has had a nice poop so far and everything has stayed down. She has been drinking a lot of water as well.
I will add more water to the next feeding though.
Thank you again.
Awe thank you so much! She weighed in at 2.5kg.
We had a successful tube feeding. I have her 25ml to start and will repeat this in a couple hours. Everything has stayed down so far. Following the wildlife centres advice, I am feeding a can of critical care dog/cat wet mixed with electrolyte...
Just coming home from the vet. They were wonderful. She was given an injection of baytril to get things started. I have everything I need to start tube feeding, except an extra set of hands which are on the way.
The vet offered sub q fluids, but we are going to try some food and more...
Okay! I have made some progress...
I found a vet willing to script me out some baytril! I am going to bring her into the clinic for an accurate weight at 1 o'clock this afternoon. I still have to find a scale for at home. But I could bring her into the clinic each day for a weigh in if I have...
I have the top one, 1.5 for metacam.
I am going to head to the vets and beg them for baytril. I will also get the feeding tube and a bigger syringe. What do I tube feed her? Should I pick up some recovery dog/cat food and make into a slurry??
I haven't been able to reach the wildlife centre so...
Okay! I'll post a picture of what I have for antibiotics here. I will also make a call to the wildlife centre to see.
I have metacam for my dogs which is the animal version of meloxicam. I would just need a dose... I hate that we don't have vets that will treat birds.
Thank you! I felt like...
Oh me to! She was a lot more perky this morning so I let her out in the run with the others. She is still pale and I think a little weak but seems to be eating bits of food. So my fingers are crossed. Everyone is behaving with her for now.
I wish I could put videos up, the reunion between her...
Hello again everyone!
I thought I would post an update as Pogo passed another blockage this morning.
Since my last update Pogo seemed to feel a lot more comfortable after we removed her first bound egg. I was excited to see her regain her strength and reintroduce her to flock. This didn't...
This was just now, after her warm bum soak. She is definitely perkier, but still willing to have some snuggles.
Slowing starting to eat more and the peas are her favourite. Her mask colour is coming back as well.
No he didn't charge me! When I asked how to repay him he just asked for a thank you. They are truly amazing people. I am planning on volunteering a few days to show my appreciation and maybe finding some feed to donate.
I learned a lot going through this... I'll be better equipped next time.
Yes, but when it was full it was only full of liquid. She had nothing in her chest when he checked her over.
I was amazed to! Egg bound was my very first thought... it was her excessive vomiting that made me think the blockage was in her chest.
Thanks for the note on shells. I have a dish with...
Thank you! I am so relieved, last night was hard not knowing what to do for her. I wasn't 100% sure she would even make it through the night.
They didn't mention anything about extra calcium. I am mixing oyster shells in their food. But I have set out an extra bowl of shells in case they...
