So glad she is better! Can you get your hands on some calcium citrate from the pharmacy? If so, you could give her 250 mg orally once or twice a day if she has problems passing her next egg.

I see Kathy beat me to it, lol... and just make sure she is eating the oyster shell on occasion... if she never eats it, you *might* have to supplement down the road with what Kathy suggested... Tums would help if you can't find the other, but that stuff is best...

Hello again everyone!

I thought I would post an update as Pogo passed another blockage this morning.
Since my last update Pogo seemed to feel a lot more comfortable after we removed her first bound egg. I was excited to see her regain her strength and reintroduce her to flock. This didn't happen the way I wanted it to, but that doesn't surprise me.
She continued to have absolutely no appetite. I was soaking her pellets with electrolyte water for over a week and the water was the only thing she wanted to drink. Her mask remains pale and I know she is lacking proteins. No matter what I tried or offered she wasn't interested. I have been reluctant to tube feed as I am afraid the tube would be placed incorrectly and I may end up killing her.
I continue to be in contact with the Wildlife centre and they were running a fecal to see if she had any internal parasites. I am still awaiting these results.
She has been spending the days in her pen inside the run with the other ducks to keep her from being hurt by the hens.
This morning when I went to grab her to place her outside she had what looked like some kind of egg in her kennel that she passed over night. She made sure to tap it a few times with her beak as if to show me what she accomplished.
After I placed her outside and got her settled I went and investigated this so called egg. It ended up being 4 shells flattened together with what looked to pieces of hard yoke.
I am interested to hear thoughts, ideas on how to prevent this or if it's something preventable? Will she always have issues laying? Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Oh me to! She was a lot more perky this morning so I let her out in the run with the others. She is still pale and I think a little weak but seems to be eating bits of food. So my fingers are crossed. Everyone is behaving with her for now.
I wish I could put videos up, the reunion between her and one of my drakes was so sweet. He missed her so much.

I suspect your hen has a salpingitis, which is reproductive tract infection. IMO, you need to get her started on a powerful antibiotic like Baytril (enrofloxacin). Don't even think about trying something from a feed store, 'cause none will treat this... This is a true emergency, and a vet would be your best choice. If you don't start her on a good antibiotic, and possibly an antiinflammatory, like Meloxicam, I think your hen will not survive.

Have you been weighing her daily? If not, you need to start. Loss three days in a row = tubefeeding. Loss of 5% = tubefeeding.

If you're worried about tubing killing her by inserting the tube in the air way I can guarantee you that it's almost impossible to do. Please consider learning to tube before it's too late. Surley someone at the wildlife rehab place could show you how to tube?

Okay! I'll post a picture of what I have for antibiotics here. I will also make a call to the wildlife centre to see.
I have metacam for my dogs which is the animal version of meloxicam. I would just need a dose... I hate that we don't have vets that will treat birds.
Thank you! I felt like yesterday I might loose her to malnutrition as I can't get her to eat.
I am looking into tube feeding now... I'll watch some u tube videos.
I feel so bad for her. I just wanna cry!
