Seeking some advice on how to encourage my poor hen Ophelia to eat. Two weeks ago she was attacked by a predator. After a through examination it appeared the only damage done was a couple of bleeding feathers on her head and swollen eyes. She was in shock so I kept her quiet and warm for 24...
Yes, it’s been very confusing and frustrating to try to figure out what’s going on. She seems sick and then perks right up and acts like nothings wrong
Thank you for the reply! The head movements and confusion are definitely the most worrisome. I will try the hard boiled egg tonight I have been trying meal worms and bananas (her fav) but she really wasn’t very interested. She put up a big fight tonight when I tried to syringe some vitamin...
Hi all,
I have been having an ongoing problem with my year old Cochin hen for going on three weeks now and it’s worrying me. I thought she was broody, however she is exhibiting some strange behaviour I have not seen in broody hens so I am concerned that she is sick. I had put her in my broody...

Checked this morning and it’s empty and this afternoon was empty too so she didn’t eat today. I haven’t dewormed them - which product should I use? I just noticed that the underside of her chest is bare too
I have a 12 month old Cochin hen who has recently began isolating herself from the flock. She’s always been somewhat reserved and kept to herself but seems to be spending more time alone now. When I let them out in the morning she has always been the last one out but now she’s just staying in...
I do have saddles on two of them, however the majority of the plucking is happening on their heads. I’ll attack a pic of the hen with the worse of it. The pic is from a few weeks ago, it’s worse now, she’s totally bald
I have a flock of 9 chickens (8 hens and 1 roo) who are almost a year old and have been raised together. Until recently my rooster was pretty gentle and sweet with his girls. The past two months he has began ripping their feathers out around their combs on the back of their heads. I know he's...
