Do you have any Vic's Vapor Rub? Try putting it on her wound and she will quit pecking at it because of the bad taste. Hopefully it can heal. Good old cooking flour works well to stop the blood flow.
I have even placed a cage in the coop and put the new additions in it for a few days. A pain to have to feed and water them that way but it usually works out. After a few days of seeing each other they accept them so when cage is removed they intermingle freely.
This also works well when a...
I prefer the wide white tape electric fencing. Place close together it keeps the poultry and animals in. A very visible fence that they do not run into! My turkeys and chickens have touched a regular wire electric fence and went right on thru it once their head was thru it. make sense?
I let mine out in almost all weather conditions with the exception of heavy snow and high winds. With llight snow I toss a couple flakes of hay in pen to keep their feet dry and give them something to scratch around in. Fun to see them out there lounging in the fluffed up hay. Goal is to have...
I place the waterer out in my pens as well as a pan of feed for the timid ones who run out the minute the drop door is opened. I then put feed in their hanging feeder in their coop. In cold weather I keep the waterer inside the coop on a heated base.
I actually end up keeping my roosters and even take a few that people do not want... They usually roost in extra barn and sometimes in the turkey barn.
They have the run of the place and live a pretty good life. Occasional squabble but no one gets hurt. Guess I could name my place the Triple R...
That could be from an internal problem. While chicks are growing they sometimes have what is called "failure to thrive" which means their

I had a turkey hen that slipped away to nest. One a.m. I found her by following a trail of feathers. She was alive but had several deep scratches on her back. I cleaned them and applied antibiotic ointment for a few days till a nice scab formed. Then I left alone to dry and heal. She too had a...
I have a dog kennel pen for my call ducks. They have a converted playhouse and do get locked up each night.
A netting is over the top of pen for protection of hawks.
Many a morning I have found evidence of critters that had gotten in their pen overnight and overturned their feeder and even drank...
I don't plant vines but I do plant evergreen shrubs and lilac bushes. They make great shade and chickens do little damage to the evergreens and when other bushes get big enough the chickens enjoy lounging under them as well as eating low hanging leaves.
Also have ornamental trees that are kept...
Just keeping him separate so he doesn't get picked on is a good idea. I have given my chickens a baby aspirin to help with pain and swelling. good luck..
