It sounds like they won't see it until May when the new class hatches chicks and invites last years class to watch the video (eggs will be provided by my girls this year for hatching). Their teacher has already contacted me about how much she loves the video. Sometimes I think its just as fun...
Just a fun video of my chickens growing up.....6 came from a nearby school that was hatching so I made the kids a video so they could see what their chicks looked like as they grew. I had so much fun making this!
The one in the hen box at the end (Mildred) has just hatched her first two...
Thanks for the advice, that ended up being the ONLY time she ate the corn cobs, they came right back up after these pictures. She also stays away from the chickens now since my roo chases her so much.
Savannah my Boxer/APT mix just hanging out eating corn cobs and apples with her girls
These pictures are before my rooster started chasing this 80lb dog around the yard.
So it's March in NH which means we just got 8 inches of snow yesterday. One of my hens has been broody and I decided to let her hatch some eggs. Just this morning I heard the first peeping from one of them. This is the first time I've let a broody hen set, so it is very exciting.
I'd like to think they're happy girls
The first two pictures are not current. The first one was taken in May 2011 and second in August 2011. The third picture was taken in the begining of January 2012 so it is the most current one, we do now have snow outside so the girls don't like to...
These were my girls, as just little peeps
Savannah the "pit" loves sharing corn cobs and apples with her sisters (and her rooster the barred rock)
January 2012.....this is NOT a normal NH winter, but I had some happy chickens
Good Luck!!you'll have fun from chick to chicken! If you're planning on letting them free range at all, you'll LOVE having a rooster. Mine last year alerted me when there were two adolescent bears playing nearby. I got the chickens in before the bears saw them, and the neighborhood kids got in too.
Last year I got 6 chicks from a Kindergarden class that hatched them in school, I figured that they might want to see what their chicks looked like all grown up so I made this video for them as a thank you for my girls. There are some Black Australorps and NH Reds that will not be highlighted...
If you live where the weather is above freezing 365 days a year GREAT, but for those of us that get that long winter season with below freezing temperatures, I have some winter tips for you.
Keeping Chickens Warm
A warm chicken is a happy chicken, so I asked some old time chicken farmers...
