I had some experience with biting with parakeets and also my cockatoo and i watched a lot of videos on YouTube and they were so helpful. I learned the biggest thing was to show zero reaction when you get bit like someone already said in this thread. I had a lot of success with clicker training...
Thank you for all the help and info, it's very much appreciated I can't thank you enough. I have had helping them go both ways and its sad when you can't save them. I was able to save wet chicks once and it was awesome to have 100% success with that when they appeared dead when I found them all...
Thank you I really appreciate it. It's nice feeling like I have people who agree with me on this so I can feel better about what I have to do. I let her loose and I'm out here letting her do her thing for a while. I wish there was more I could do but I feel like not letting her die of infection...
I agree totally. I now feel like I'm fighting not one battle, but 3 or 4. It does look much smaller today and not quite as bad but there is definitely yolk coming out, broken shell internally, nasty hole where I can see her internals, and with all of that against treating her plus me not having...
Just checked her They are part of the feathers. There is one hole way up above that hole and that I'm guessing is the one that is supposed to be there and by second hole I mean this nasty one. When I cleaned her a while back I thought I saw two vents. I thought poop from one egg from another I...
It almost looks like the hole is smaller. Could this have happened just from poop being stuck there? I mean like the poop caused the actual hole? Is there an easy way to tell if she's got maggots in there? I think I may want to get something on there to deter flies but what to use on an open wound..
Thank you! I see what you are saying. There was a clump of poop on her but which was very hard and when it came off (didn't pull it off) the water soak made it fall off in one piece like a cap, it looked like bowl shaped poop cap with a yellow spot on the inside. I wonder if the poop cap was...
I read the link and it appears to be the same thing. I'm glad I have this site to ask because I really don't know what the heck I'm doing! I've never had to really look at or tamper with a hens but before besides this one. I wish I had a picture of her butt before this happened. It looked before...
When I cleaned her before I'm pretty sure there was a hole under it. This was not long ago. I wonder if when I cleaned the poop off her his time if I made that hole reopen
Okay then there is a hole there that shouldn't be there. I thought there was a separate hole for the egg to come out!! As I said I'm new to this. So I'm not seeing maggots would that still be the fly strike if there is no maggots?? I'm almost positive this hen has always had two holes there...
I'm not sure what I can get to help her, I'm not sure if your familiar with Blue Seal, or Tractor Supply but that is where I can go for chicken supplies. I'm not sure what they have or what to ask for but I can make it to one of them today and see if I can find something that will help. I'm just...
