    I have a black copper marans hen who went broody for the first time. All was going well until a couple of days ago. She started staying off the nest and the eggs would get cold before she would return, and last night she didn't get on the nest at all. Could this be because it's her first time...

    Thank you all so very much. This is my first experience with a broody hen, so I'm really excited and proud for her. I'm going to risk moving her this evening. I figure the odds are better of her staying broody, than of me catching the snake, or whatever it is.

    My BCM hen started sitting on five eggs about a week and a half ago. I checked on her this morning, and she only had three eggs left. Are there any possible reasons she would dispose of some of her eggs?

    Someone recently gave me three beautiful black copper marans hens, and a black copper marans rooster. I absolutely love them. They didn't lay for the first few weeks after we got them, so I put a fake egg in their nest, and about a week later they started laying a couple of eggs every other day...
