Went to check for eggs, imagine my surprise. I think he wandered in there during the day while coop door was open. He was much cuter with his mouth closed. Everybody's OK.
Hi, My hens free range in the backyard during the day and my great pyrenees/anatolian shepherd mix follows them around and, well, eats their poop. As a plus, he also cleans out their coop...
Is this likely to have any adverse effect on him? It's something he's only started doing now that he's...
Hi, After 2 doses of the Tylan 200 (including one initial, accidental, mega-dose) and one dose of Sulfa Bird to the water, Buttercup's eyes have cleared up and there's no longer a discharge from the nasal area. Will make sure to got the full course of 5 days though, and for all the hens.
I just gave all 7 hens some Tylan 200 (0.5-1.0cc as another member here had tried -- no 50 in stock). The bird's faces smell OK, I think, but just in case, I've ordered some SMZ-TMP - thank you very much for the link! I hope they can hang in there until it arrives in the mail tomorrow.

Hi I'm new to chickens. BYC is certainly a great resource!
For me it all started when we saw a few days old chick crossing a busy street. We stopped to rescue it from traffic and now we have two "Cochicanaus" (Cochin/Americanau cross -- each about a month old) and our rescue chicken which is...
