I haven't been getting ANY eggs lately, not even from my good old dependable rock hen. The weather has gotten colder here and we have had a few dark days in a row but not a single egg for about a week now. The hens also are looking very 'plucked'. I don't know if they are molting, kind of...
I had one like that. She is now 9 months old but still very meek and mild, but making it. It is good that you separated this one. Hand feed and water as much as possible and see what happens. Good luck.
Wait a minute, that's a chicken coop???? I think you just threw some sawdust on one of your bedroom floors!
If that's the inside of a chicken coop, I'd really like to know what the outside looks like, wow!
This is a question that has been bugging me for years. When they talk about salmonella risk in eating eggs, in peticular raw eggs, I a perplexed at how could the inside of an egg be contaminated. Wouldn't it be the outside of the shell thats germy? And wouldn't washing the egg before cracking...
I like your use of space! Don't know what to say about the run but I am needing to do that myself as I have had a hawk scare recently. Yours do have some space to run around and if you are down to 2, then I wouldn't worry about it for now.
5 degrees this morning, warmed up to 11. Had to take water out to the coop every couple of hours. Still, got an egg from each of my girls. Heat lamps are on and the coop is filled with straw, don't know what else I can do.
I am so happy with my litterbox roost. Mine is modified and much smaller, only 3 small hens to deal with, but it works so well. It keeps down on the cleaning I have to do in the coop and keeps the bad smells to a minimum, and the girls love it too. Thanks again for the great idea and keep...
www.puritanspride.com is a good resource for vitamins. They have the B12 dots and the liquid. They also carry homeopathic meds that I like.
I recommend them so much I think I should get commission!
There is also sublingual B12 liquid, you just put a dropper full under your tongue and let it absorb right in. I've never been tested, but I sure feel much better when taking B12. Right now I use B12 dots.
Are my chickens weird or what? I thought I was getting some good winter treats to feed my girls. I got black oil seed and cracked corn and they won't eat it. This morning I decided to put some of the corn in some water and microwave a few minutes. They liked that a little bit, but don't go...
