The base price of a chick does not in ANY WAY compare to the end cost of a full grown and productive bird.
On top of the repairs I'd charge $25 for any girls who are still producing quality eggs. Minimum. That's what I sell a bird for once she hits the age where she can lay.
Whatever you do, keep in mind that the guy, I'd hope, feels horrible.
I'm sure he will work with you to get your repairs done as well as the price of love and replacement costs.
Got our first Orpington chicks 3 weeks ago. They were the SWEETEST birds right from the start. They wanted to be held and fed.
Especially fed.
We got some Lavenders from TSC and have fallen in love.
Names are June, Cotton, Violet, and of course Lavender.
Agreed. His behavior with people is not ok.
But you can buy your girl a saddle. My boy had a favorite girl, and she would have patches on her wings.
Got her a saddle with a wing protector and it worked great.
Downside is she hated it and it made her really hot.
Please do NOT rehome him! If he's attacking you now, imagine how he will act to other people he has love for.
Those other people might have grandbabies that visit.
IDK We have tried the same thing with our rooster and without fail he will just try to jump higher to flog our face.
If they're worried about aggressive behavior, giving treats is really just the last delay before it's the chop chop.
I'm having the same issue with my boy. I've tried everything...
