    Lone Duckling

hi all- I have 5 eggs in my incubator right now- two were supposed to hatch yesterday or today, one hatched and one didn’t make it- My other 3 probably won’t hatch until next week... Is my lone duckling okay by itself until the others hatch? Or do I need to go get another duckling to keep it...

Taking duck eggs from a broody Duck

Hi all- I have a broody Pekin that’s been sitting on eggs for about 3.5 weeks- I know they’re about to hatch! Can I take the eggs from her and put them in my incubator to hatch? I’m asking because one already hatched and was trampled in the coop- so I’d rather hatch them inside and then put...

    When can ducks go outside?

Thanks for the input guys. I don’t really see it being possible to separate them when they eat... here are my two thoughts: Just give them all the grower feed Or Mix the two feeds

    When can ducks go outside?

I have several 5week old ducklings... I have read that they shouldn’t get the layer mash right away... I just don’t know how to keep the adults away from the grower food and the ducklings away from the mash, since they’ll all be together..

Oh, also- we live in Pennsylvania - so our temps right now are 60s/70s during the day and 50s at night.

    When can ducks go outside?

Hi all- I have 5 week old ducklings that I’m wondering when they can go outside... They have tail feathers, but everything I’ve read says they need to be fully feathered- how do I know when they are fully feathered? They’re mixed breed- we have adult khakis, Rouens, and Pekins - we used their...

Hatching duck eggs - first timer!

Hi all- Just an update. Still only have two ducklings so far. There are two eggs left in the incubator- the one who had pipped yesterday is still rockin’ and rollin’.... I’m hoping he or she makes its it out soon without help- although I’m getting concerned... but trying to be patient. The...

Hatching duck eggs - first timer!

I’m confused.. You have two that have pipped? This is my first time hatching so I’m definitely not an expert - but everything I’ve read said that it can take up to 48 hours for them to hatch even after they’ve pipped.... But I’m confused as to what’s not drying off?

Hatching duck eggs - first timer!

How long do you wait to put food and water in with them in the brooder?

Hatching duck eggs - first timer!

2 out of 4 are out! The other two haven’t even pipped yet so it may be tomorrow until they make their appearance.. I’ll post pics once hatching is over! Thanks for the advice. I was curious if it was better to stay in the incubator until dry... ive seen mixed opinions on it.. I think I’ll...

Hatching duck eggs - first timer!

We had one duck hatch last night! And another has pipped and is making its way out... How long should I leave the first duckling in there? He or she isn’t quite dry yet... so I’m thinking later today? That’d be close to 24 hours....

Hatching duck eggs - first timer!

You are right- that is the side of the air sack! And I’m not too worried anymore- as he or she pipped right next to that hole this morning. So he or she seems to be doing fine! 2 out of the 4 have externally pipped so far - but all 4 are chirping and rocking away- so I’m hoping we’ll have...
