Your article was very informative, thank you! I just wonder how much is too much? I’m down to just 4 chickens and they definitely look to me for treats if some sort each day. I share my raspberries and blackberries and occasionally basil and oregano. I will start adding some chives and sage! My...
Yes we’ve been having temps in the 80’s - 90’s with dew points over 60 and occasionally into the 70’s which is downright tropical! We try to get the eggs out of the coop asap! We also keep a large section of the coop open during the day to keep plenty of air moving through it during the day.
One of our chickens has recently been laying eggs that have a very mottled yolk and very discolored albumin. She eats, drinks and runs around with her flock mates as usual but yesterday I did notice her having diarrhea. I showed the egg to my son and dil, they raise chickens and both said they’d...
We have an Ameraucana that does the same! Not quite as bad as yours but it is an obnoxious sound, and we do live in a nice quiet neighborhood 😬! I can usually sush her though, thank goodness! I think she does this when she sees me and is excited for a treat! I generally Will appease her with...
Thank you for you recommendations! She is eating and drinking but hasn’t played an egg for two weeks now. Her poop is liquid. She hangs with the rest of the girls and doesn’t seem to be any worse for wear. I will do what you recommend and see what happens!
This bird is one of six. She is the only one with this dirty butt. I’ve soaked her twice to clean her up, she will push as if to lay an egg when in the warm bath. I can’t see an egg, I don’t feel one but am unsure if I know what I’m looking/feeling for. Reading other posts I believe if she had...
She recovered for about 5 days then kinda stayed to herself again for a day or two and now seems to be just fine again. She will be a year old on Monday and still isn’t laying🤷♀️ The co-op girls figure it’s still too cold 40s during the day and 30s at night, to count on them laying most days. I...
Great article! We were gifted our three orpies when they were 4 months old. I’ve been doing what I can to get them to trust us, they surely recognize me for the treats I bring😉 Two of the three will allow us petting and holding but the leader is a tough chick. Hope to wear her down this summer...
Today is the first day since I first reported a sick chicken, that she actually joined the group to race for meal worms! Can’t tell you how happy I was to see this.
We have given her two sits baths to clean her vent and surrounding area of liquid yellow and black poo. She looks like she is...
I’m sorry to hear about Willow. We are having a similar situation with one of our Buff Orps although she seems to be coming around. I to feel that if something happens to her, I should send the other two to live with my son, that I don’t have the knowledge to give appropriate care to these...
About the same, she comes out, walks around but is now back up in the coop. Her crop doesn’t seem to be the problem now. I’m wondering if something else is wrong. She will be a year old in May but may be the one that hasn’t started laying yet. They are all the same age but really took a long...
