    Today's treat was chopped apples plus Dog Food Rogan Josh (a tray of dog food mixed with some leftover sauce) with tricolour rice and a side of Bombay potatoes. The curry and rice was gone in seconds, the chopped apples are still there six hours later.

    They're quite happy to roost and lay there now, they just don't use it as shelter from the weather. It's rated for 6-9 chickens, so there's plenty of room, they all cuddle up together at one end at night.

    I did wonder if she could be, although she's a tad darker then ones I've seen before. Very docile, very friendly, but a consummate escape artist! She's painfully thin, which is making me drag my heels a bit over finding her owner.

    Mine have just tucked into a bowl of dog food and warm wheatgerm mash. They squabble over it then bury their faces in it in ecstasy - well, that's what it looks like!

    She may not staying if I find the rightful owner, but this ninja of a chicken (keeps getting out of the run) is a bit of a mystery. Does anyone know the breed? She's an almost chocolate brown with white highlights and a fan-shaped tail.

    Kitten food (it was on very special offer), plus a chicken and bacon wrap I bought from a shop and didn't like - the chicken was a mushy paste. Yuck. The girls loved it all. Their favourite treats are dried mealworms which they get every day - and the dog always insists on her share, too!

    Sorry to hear about your dog, Chickengrass..... such heartbreak. After the last one, I said never again, but last year this bundle of fun and sass came into our lives and patched up our broken hearts.

    Feral chickens

    With my feral chicken, I waited until she was half asleep in the evening then locked her in the coop each night. It took two weeks, but eventually she went in on her own one evening, and has done so each night ever since.

    A bit far for me, I'll have to look closer to home. Like you, I'm not fussed about breeds, I love them all :)
