    Thanks for the reply Wyorp. Well, I did end up giving her a half of baby asprin yesterday. She's alert, happy and active today so I think she's on the mend. I re-dressed the wound and it seems to be healing.

    I believe it can be stressful to a broody hen when you pull her off the nest too many times. Either put her in a pen with a wire bottom until she breaks, or give her fertile eggs to hatch. Alternatively you can give her 1-3 day old chicks as long as she's sat for at least 2 weeks straight. :jumpy
