Hello all! I don't have anything available yet, but I'm testing the waters to see if there's still much interest in adopting pullets in the LA area. Last year it seemed like there were more people on these forums and I'd be able to re-home a pullet easily, but I'm wondering if that's still the case now.

I’m here and I would but we are maxed out currently.

Hello! I'd possibly be interested. It depends on how well I can convince the family that we need more eggs lol

We are downsizing our flock here in Orange County! We have some friendly, healthy and actively laying two year old Barred Rock and Rhode Island Red hens that we are looking to rehome by the end of this week. Anyone interested?

Hi Everyone,
Has anyone set up an outdoor brooder in the middle of summer in socal? All the guides I read seem to be for colder places. It's going to be in the 90s this weekend with a low of 64 at night. I don't think I need to worry about freezing weather.

Hello,
My kindergarten class has hatched eggs for the past few years. I just saw where our eggs come from and I can't support that business. I was wondering if someone would be willing to lend my class 9-12 eggs. We have all the supplies to incubate, candle, and keep the young chicks warm. We would return them to you a week or 2 after they hatch. We are located in Newbury Park, California. If anyone reading this lives in the Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Oxnard, Ventura, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Calabasas, or Agoura Area and is able to help please let me know.
Thanks so much,
Erin Truesdale
Hi! I just saw your post while looking for other Simi Valley peeps. One of my girls started laying and the rest of my pullets will start laying soon. I have a buff polish cockerel who is very eager to mate with the girls and the egg I cracked looked like it was fertile.
I come from a science and medical background and love this idea! My mom was also a high school science teacher who started my dreams of hatching my own chicks some day. I would love to contribute fertile eggs to your classroom next year if you are still doing this with your students!

Southern California, I've been chicken keeping for a little over 3 years. I free range my flock by day and coop them up at night. Currently have 17 hens and 1 rooster - all of them have names. I'm constantly upgrading my 2 DIY chicken coops by patching up all my beginner mistakes. I already had many heartbreaking losses, but as a result I have learned a lot and my flock is stronger than ever.

Recently, I have been struggling with a stick tight flea infestation that caught on to every single one of my birds. I think I have it under control now. In case anyone's interested I will post what I did and what worked. Anyway, I appreciate this website, I already took advantage of a lot of useful information and applied it to my chicken keeping. Let's keep it going! Cheers!

Hello. We recently lost our oldest hen and we're down to one chicken. We'd like to find a new home for her since we'll be taking a break from raising chickens. Her name is Dottie and she's a healthy 6 year old Crested Cream Legbar. She doesn't lay anymore so we wanted to find a forever home where she can live out the rest of her natural life with a new flock of hens. If you are willing to adopt her we can bring her to you. We live in Covina and can drive her if you live in the LA or San Bernardino area.
