    Pecking feathers off new bird

    There was blood being drawn from the new chicken so we pulled her out. I feel like I've read that once they seen blood they will just keep pecking at it and could possibly kill the bird.

    I have 3 hens (2 golden comets and 1 barred rock) along with a young Ameraucana Rooster that I am looking to give to a good home. The hens are no longer laying, or rarely lay and would prefer they not go to a home where they will be killed.

    Is it possible to teach boundaries to a free range flock? My 4 chickens have recently started ranging a bit to far (into my neighbors driveway/land). When I see them over there I go outside and shoo them back onto my land.

    I would assume the heat/ ventilation is a concern when they are closed in the coop correct? If they are out in the run I would assume they would be fine (given shade and water)
