Black Copper Maran?

We just got her home this evening and found that she had laid the egg in the bis during transport ... It looks more like an ameracuana / Easter egger egg then what we are expecting from a black copper maran.

Hi,

You have a mutt. The bird in the photo has a pea comb, so do EE's. It would explain the green egg. The bird however resembles the Black Copper Maran nearly exactly.

She doesn't look like a Black Copper Marans to me but I will let the experts chime in, her comb is all wrong...

Once I saw the egg I figured she was a mutt. Oh well, she's pretty and my girls get a kick out of green eggs.

I think the hen is crossed with a Black Copper Maran and an EE because of her comb and eggs.

To me, it looks like you may have an Olive Egger, a cross between a Maran and an Easter Egger. While they are bred to lay an olive green colored egg, many times the genetics of one parent win out instead and they lay chocolate brown (like the Maran) or blue-green (like the Easter Egger). I have an Olive Egger that looks just like yours, like a Black Copper Maran, but with a pea comb. Rather than olive eggs, mine lays the chocolate brown eggs of the Maran. Hope that helps!
