Definitely let me know. We have too many roos, and that buff boy is in first place on my hit list if I can't re home him.

    Starter flock or cockerels only

Hi Madeline, I still have many to choose from and they're all laying now too. There's a pure buff roo and a couple EE mixes to choose from. I'm not looking to deliver though, do you ever drive out this way?

I've been off the radar for a while myself, winter put me into hibernation I think. So welcome ChyDez, to the local community, as we all wake up for spring! There are a lot of hatchaholics, myself included, who would love to help out with expanding your flock. I have a small number of...

They do not eat rats, just lots of grain! We have jumbo rats here too. If someone started a rat terrier for hire gig, I suspect they'd do quite well here!

Guineas... Wow. I started last spring with fifteen. I'm down to six in the coop and one somewhere on the property, hiding in the trees starving itself to death. These are birds I'm shocked have survived the evolutionary process long enough to become domesticated. I have had up to three of...

I have three beautiful, but extra Easter egger/Orpington cockerels I'd like to move along. I'm happy to send a few pullets with them, if that would find one of these beauties a home. Local pickup only, Lisbon Maine.

I have a variety of brown eggs, likely mostly fertile. You'd have a mix of Easter egger and buff Orpington genes in there if you're interested. I'm in the town of Lisbon. If anyone else is interested in some buff/EE cockerels, I have a couple real beauties that I'd been hoping would be female...

We've terminated two more unwanted cockerels today, and will now age the meat a bit before trying to render it edible. It was as good a day as I could ask for to make it happen, and we worked fast since getting chilled is a motivator. I stacked the last of the wood this morning and made sure...

Hey folks, I too am fighting the rat-battle here in the fringe of Androscoggin County. The little buggers are literally climbing the walls through the tiniest of gaps in the wire to get to the coop area and digging holes under multiple feet of concrete to gain access to the dirt sections. It's...

Maybe it's because we have oversized nuclear powered rodents :) I'm glad you haven't had the same issues, just putting the thought out there. It's also possible I got a somehow defective trap.

The only thing I don't like about the black plastic snap traps is partial kills I've seen where the wounded rat drags the trap away. I had one drag the trap thirty feet or so away from where it was set before it died. So if you can put it inside a cage or other drag away prevention, it's great...

    Any stores have chicks now?

I'm on the wrong side of the country, but can tell you I and many others are trying to rehome our 'extras' before winter. So definitely check Craigslist. You might post in the hatch-a-holic threads here too for someone near you who just needs an excuse to put some eggs in the 'bator for you :)

We also resorted to poison blocks. I find greatest success by sprinkling some layer crumbles onto it, so it smells like what they've been living on. I discovered a half dozen rat bodies in one week with that method.

So it seems my chicken math has already caught up with me, and hubby is encouraging me to cut back a bit on the younger birds. I have a batch of eight Buff Orp/EE crosses that he's convinced me to part with. They hatched on July 30th, and are fully feathered and roosting nicely. I just can't...
