    California - Northern

Hi all, Just started checking this thread again, great to see so many posts. Our chickens had a bad year. We lost many to a group of stray dogs that had to be tracked down and caught. A friend just gave us four EE chicks to add to our now small flock of BO, WCBP, and 2 EEs. Starting over is...

    Chickens and the garden

I have chicken wire around my garden. I love my chickies, but I wouldn't leave them alone with any plant I didn't want to die. They love to pull leaves off my plants, it must be for fun because they usually don't eat them. When I go into the fenced area they start to circle like sharks. As I...

    California - Northern

Quote: I am in Lemoore so I guess we are pretty close. I remember going to Woodlake for a tennis match when I was in high school. Are you prepared for the heat we will be getting in a few days?

    Cochin/D'uccle cross

Great idea! Don't know why we didn't think of it. My neighbors don't mind and so far he is the quietest roo I have ever been around. Such a sweet heart. Thanks everyone.

    Cochin/D'uccle cross

I am still trying to convince my husband to let me keep them. Today he asked me if I had put them on craig's list yet. He likes them too, but is not keen on breaking the law. He doesn't think we are setting a good example for our children if we do. I agree with him on that. Oh dear.

    Cochin/D'uccle cross

Oh, well maybe I should get more bantam cochins and build them their own run. Darn! I have been eyeing the feather footed assortment at McMurray.

    calling all home schoolers

I am a homeschooler of two in CA. I taught K in the public school system here before having children. I knew I didn't want my children to go there and the private schools here are not any better, they just tack some relegion on to their curriculum. It is really sad.

    Cochin/D'uccle cross

They are really pretty, I hope those pics will seal the deal. I figured they would be cute, but wanted to make sure there wasn't some mutant gene between the two of them I was unaware of. If my little guy stays quite I think it will all be fine. So far the wild birds that live around us are...

    Cochin/D'uccle cross

I think I may have convinced my DH to let me keep my bantam partridge cochin roo. The only other bantam I have is a mille fleur D'uccle hen. So his only question now is what would their offspring look like? Does anybody have anypictures I can show him? Thanks

    Free Bantams in CA

I am sorry to hear about your little one. My big girls aren't very nice to my bantys either. CocoPuff started crowing at 5 weeks. Well, I guess you can call it a crow, it is more like a stutter. He would do it at 8 o'clock when they were in the house. They went out to the coop at six weeks...

    Free Bantams in CA

I have a partridge cochin roo and a mille fleur d'uccle pullet both 7 weeks old that I have to give up. no roosters allowed. CocoPuff (roo) and Twinkie (pullet) are inseperable so they go as a pair. They are my sweetest little fluffies ever. As soon as I sit down they are on my knee and...

    CA Anyone???

I am in Lemoore, CA. We have a BO, SLW, GLW, RIR, Black Jersey Giant, Mille Fleur D'uccle and a Partridge Cochin roo. The two little bantys are 6 weeks old and are up for grabs. My big girls are determined to help them remove those ridiculous feathers from their feet.

    Bantam Partridge Cochin

Well, I guess I don't need to figure out my new camera program. Little Coco Puff crowed this morning. So we call him Puff Daddy and we are going to find him a new home soon.

    Bantam Partridge Cochin

Cocopuff, that's its name, comb just got pink this week, its not even completely pink, and it just has pink spots where its wattles would be. I am being optimistic, but who knows. I will post pictures in the morning so I can be as up to date as possible. They seem to grow over night.
