I noticed a bloody bottom on one of my hens this morning and I see that she is prolapsed and possibly has been pecked by her sisters. I have her isolated in a box in my laundry room and planned to do a good warm water soak but I wanted to check first as I’m getting mixed information for...
Thank you. I have tried “burping” her and nothing seems to be happening, I also don’t want to further injure her. I was able to talk with a friend who has a chicken farm and she also said to leave it alone for now and observe for a week without handling the chick to see if it clears up on its own.
I am positive it contains air. I have experience with sour/impacted crops with one of my full grown hens. On this chick it is more pronounced on one side as opposed to the middle and yesterday when the air seemed to go away I felt her crop and it felt normal.
Can someone please tell me whether this looks like a ruptured air sac injury or an air filled crop? This chick is about a week old. I noticed the air the day before yesterday. Yesterday however, the air seemed to go away. Now this morning she is full of air again. I don’t want to make a puncture...
I have a week old blue australorp chick that has a swollen crop area this morning. They are given chick start and water. I have experience with swollen/impacted crops in my big girls but not with babies. I’m extra paranoid because I only brought three babies home this time and would be very sad...
I just got chicks (not my first but haven’t had them since my hens were babies four years ago) I keep my brooder in my laundry room that is connected to my bedroom. I normally use eco flake in my hen house and brooder but the smell drives me crazy when it’s inside my house. Has anyone used...
My four year old polish hen has sour crop. yesterday I noticed her crop was really full so I gave it a feel and it was like a water balloon. I was able to get most of the fluid out and separate her. Today it seems the crop has emptied. What should I do now? I have ACV, herbal antibiotics and...
Thanks. Ive been doing epsom soaks, trying to get her to eat eggs(she is refusing all food), I have a vitamin/electrolyte supplement that mixes with water for chickens, she has no lice/mites/worms (I dewormed my whole flock in the beginning of June). I’ve been having to feed and water her with a...
Thank you for asking, she’s not well 😔 now I can feel an egg in there but I don’t think she has the strength to push it out. I’ve been giving her water, electrolytes and yogurt (all syringe fed) and she’s just not getting any better. I did get some herbal antibiotic that I was giving her but...
I am trying to get my poor hen on the mend and have ruled out all outward presenting reasons for illness. My next try is brewers yeast. I have been syringe feeding and watering her. What’s the best dosage to give her? Last night I ground up her feed with some water in the food processor and was...
