My Toulouse is an old biddy, so sometimes she will honk up a small storm (especially when I bring her treats!), but usually Toulouse are quiet and gentle, good beginner geese.
The one on the left looks like a Toulouse. The one on the right also seems to be a Toulouse :) I love Toulouse! Mine is so mild-mannered and hilarious!
Thank you! Merlin is a gander and the other two are indeed females :) He's not of breeding age yet though; we've had a few eggs but none of them were viable when we candled them! :( I would have loved to have lots of little Merlins/Mabels/Malachis running around! Sticking with geese is probably...
Hi all!
Wow, it's been quite a while since I posted an update on Merlin, my "mystery goose"! I decided today that, while I'm at home on Easter break, I'd post something about him.
Last year, around May, we were given a "duck" by a woman who found him abandoned in the middle of the road. We...
I am in no way a waterfowl veterinarian, but my mom is a vet tech and she was directed to this website by her vet head when she had a duck that ate something poisonous come in. Unfortunately this is all I can give to you; I hope your gosling is okay! I would urge you to contact a vet as soon as...
Hi! I have a gosling who looked EXACTLY like that about a week ago! His legs and beak are now seemingly changing orange-y pink and he is going on his third or fourth week. I posted an ID thread earlier and some others were saying he could possibly be Toulouse, but my mom and I are slightly...
Hi Ya'll :)
I'm back again with some better pictures of Merlin. I had posted a thread on here before about trying to figure out what type of goose Merlin, my gosling, is, and I had received an answer about him possibly being Toulouse. My mom wanted me to post another thread to see if anyone...
I'm not quite sure how they compare to a duck, but I used to have Bantams when I was a child and Merlin is much more attached and loving than they were! He's only a gosling right now, but already very well behaved. Noisy and needy, but well behaved xD If Merlin is a domestic goose, I feel like...
Here's a better picture of him with his legs from when he was hanging out with me today :) His beak has also turned more brown than the pitch black it was when we first found him.
It is wonderful! He follows me everywhere and it always makes me smile when he gives his little "Mama you're walking to fast!" beep! I can't wait!!
Sunshine and Lollipop are adorable names! I can't wait until Merlin meets our horses and goat :) We have minis, normal horses, a mini donkey, and...
I'm glad to have your opinion on him thought :) I'm so excited for him to feather! Hopefully he feathers before I go back to York for the school year, that way I can know for sure if I can get my "make a pond, get more geese" plan underway before I leave! He's very attached to me, I'd feel...
Ah! Thank you for the quick reply! I was thinking Toulouse, but the odds of just finding him out in the road near us was too slim for me to really consider it seriously. My mom and I were starting to question ourselves though because of the feet; his bill just doesn't have that light tip we keep...
Hi :)
I'm a new goose mom and I recently rescued a little gosling. A woman was driving home up our road and saw him in the middle of it; he came right up to her and everything, so she was going around asking who owned him. My mom is an experienced vet tech so we took him in. There is one farm...
Hi :)
I've been loving this site since we were given a lost little gosling last week! I live in the country on a small sanctuary farm for old and/or abused animals with my parents and my brother; we have had chickens before but never have we ever dreamed of raising waterfowl!
This little guy...
