    Missing neck and vent feathers

Any idea what could be going on here? I have a couple of girls missing feathers on their necks and all around their vents. It doesn't look like normal molt and they don't have new pin feathers coming in. Thoughts?

PLEASE HELP Chicken with respiratory issue??

Our favorite girl sounds like a squeaky toy, is shaking her head, has isolated from the flock, and I also noticed a "grumbling stomach" sound while holding her. What's going on??

Girls don't want to sleep in the coop

We have an established flock of 5 hens. For a few weeks towards the end of fall we were doing some maintenance in the run and taking apart the coop. The girls decided to roost on the fence at night. Once the new coop was finished they happily moved right in, except for one. I have one girl who...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

I'm GUESSING this is one of our pullets first eggs? It's so small! I didn't think they were due to start laying for several more weeks though. Perhaps it's a practice egg? I cracked it open and the shell was fairly hard, only a tiny spot of yolk inside.

Are my Ameraucanas actually Easter Eggers?

I bought two chicks from the local feed store about 3 weeks ago. They were labeled Ameraucana but after doing a little reading lately I learned that they are more likely to be Easter Eggers. Thoughts? Also, I've read that especially with Easter Eggers identifying gender can be very difficult...

    Sick buffy?

My buff orpington has been sitting on the floor in the coop all day. She did eat when I put the feed right in front of her but didn't come out to eat with the rest of the girls. She had some runny (greenish?) poop under her. I felt to see if she might have a bound egg but didn't feel much and to...

Inconsistent egg production, extra thick egg whites, hens losing neck feathers...newish chicken owne

About a year and a half ago my husband and I bought a house and inherited two hens. They were both hand raised, very tame and friendly. Unfortunately we lost one about a month later to a wild predator. We decided to get a few more hens in her place. We got three new girls from a local farm right...
