To clip or not to clip? That is the question!

Wow really. I have decided I won't clip her wings. It sounds like it won't stop her leaving if she really wants to. So I will get a tag for her that has my number on it and hopefully she likes living with me enough to stay. I will stay with her for the first few days when she is out. Fingers...

To clip or not to clip? That is the question!

Thanks everyone I really appreciate your advice. It is pretty much what I was thinking. I don't like the idea of clipping the flight feathers even if they do grow back. It seems unfair on her. And if its not a necessary thing then I won't do it. I have 1.5m fence so if she can jump 6-8ft...

To clip or not to clip? That is the question!

Hi all, it is coming time to let my lovely rescue peahen out to roam free range. I am very nervous that she might just fly away. I am new to this and have read that I should keep her in her enclosure for up to 6 weeks to get her settled. She has been with me for almost 4weeks now. She is laying...

    Peahen abandoned eggs

Thanks that kinda what I was thinking. I should be able to see more at this stage if she had laid them before the 8th of June and been sitting on the since?

    Peahen abandoned eggs

She is a rescue and had already laid the eggs. She had started sitting on them from the 8th of June. I have a feeling that they might not be fertilised eggs.

    Peahen abandoned eggs

This is what the eggs look like when I shined a light through them. They were out with the peahen all night 12hours or more but not sure she sat on them at all

    Peahen abandoned eggs

Hi all, I finally got my lovely lady yesterday but unfortunately she has abandoned her eggs. I candles them and it looks like they were viable(there was a dark part when I candle them, extreme newbie to this so I could be wrong). But they are cold now and I am wondering if I can save them? I...

Housing a single peahen and hen pheasant together

I have a hen pheasant sitting on a clutch on eggs at my place and will very soon have a peahen with eggs also. I am putting the peahen in an enclosure so she can get used to her new home and also so her chicks will be safe once they hatch. I am wondering if it would be possible to also house the...

    Introduction

Hi all I am looking forward to learning a lot for this community. I thought it easiest to go through the questions below as my introduction. (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am completely new only building an enclosure for them at the moment. (2) How many...
